Skills

CAD & Design

I am experienced in designing complex parts and assemblies using CAD software. I have used SolidWorks for over 6 years, using it in my A* A level DT project and at university, where it helped me to get a grade of 75% on the individual design module in year one. I also have knowledge using Fusion 360, and I have experience with its simulation and FEA features.

MATLAB Utilisation

I have thorough knowledge of MATLAB programming, as evidenced by the 2 certifications I have (Certificates can be found on my LinkedIn). I am able to manipulate matrices and data beyond the year one level, and can use many types of graphs to clearly relay information.

C Programming

I am proficient in using C, as evidenced by my 79% mark in the C computing module completed in year one. I am excited for future challenges where I will learn how to use this programming in design and to complete tasks.

Problem Solving

I am able to work resiliently and open mindedly to solve technical probelms, and meet design criteria given to me by others. Again, this is evidenced by my 75% mark in the year one individual design module.

Teamwork & Collaboration

I have spent my whole life being in teams, stemming from my love of sports. I have gained the ability to work with many types of people in high pressure environments, and I can effectively deal with conflicts.

Paper and Lab Report Writing

I am skilled in writing lab reports and papers, with an average of 85% on the 7 lab reports written in year one. Furthermore, I recieved a mark of 85% on the paper I wrote about solar panel design and use, again in year one. I also recieved a mark of 82% on my EPQ in year 12.

Competition

I relish competing, again stemming from playing competitive sports for over 13 years. I am always pushing myself to be the best, with excellent attention to detail, driven by my competetiveness.

Loyalty

I highly value being loyal and always giving my best. I am proud to have been a member of my local hockey club for over 13 years, and I care deeply about many things I do, whether they be big or small.

Customer Service and Satisfaction

I was able to work at Ocado Group as a Delivery Driver, where I served thousands of customers and grew my customer service skills. I was able to always put them first, even at 6AM or 11PM, at the start or end of a shift. I learned to think on my feet and multitask, and persevere through difficult situations, and built upon this in a completely different environment working at a local cafe as well.

Professionalism

I think it is very important in many aspects of life to be professional, and hence I have learned how to dress well, plan ahead, be on time and be thankful. Building this website has taught me how to enhance my brand and image, and along with the ability to present and work with Microsoft Office applications, as well as the other skills I have listed, I will thrive in a professional environment.

Education & Certifications

  • A level results of A*A*AA, in Physics, Design & Technology, Maths and Extended Project Qualification respectively.
  • University year one first class honours, with a grade of 81%
  • 2 official MATLAB certifications.

Hobbies & Interests

  • Sports – I have played hockey for over a decade, playing for the first team at school and have been lucky enough to represent the University of Birmingham at BUCS level. However, I have interests in many other sports, and over my life have also played rugby, football, cricket and tennis. I love the competitive environment of playing sports, but I also enjoy watching pro sports as a way to relax and wind down.
  • Cars – I am a massive petrolhead, and have been for as long as I remember. I have watched Formula 1 since 2010, and now I am able to drive, I have the pleasure of owning a 2006 Mazda MX-5 NC. I enjoy working on my car, and have carried out multiple types of work and maintenance on it. I also had the pleasure of working in a mechanics for a week, where I assisted on many jobs, the highlights of which were changing a clutch, replacing multiple suspension components such as shock absorbers and control arms, and fitting an entire exhaust system.
  • Cooking – Since starting uni I have really enjoyed growing my chef skills from pretty much a beginner to now being adept at it. It helps me to relax after a long day, and I believe that there is no better feeling than eating a delicious meal that you cooked yourself.
